Warren Beatty was selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to receive their lifetime achievement honor, the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Beatty will be presented with the award at the 64th annual Golden Globe Awards on January 15.
Beatty has taken home five Golden Globes and been nominated a total of twelve times. The 69-year-old Hollywood icon picked up his first award in 1962 as most promising newcomer. He was named best actor in a comedy or musical for “Heaven Can Wait”, Beatty also picked up best producer for his work on “Heaven Can Wait.” He won a Golden Globe as best director for “Reds” and best producer for the drama “Bugsy.”
Warren Beatty will join Jack Nicholson, Harrison Ford, Michael Douglas, Anthony Hopkins, Gene Hackman, Robin Williams, Al Pacino, Barbara Streisand, Audrey Hepburn, Robert Redford, Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman, Clint Eastwood, and Paul Newman as winners of the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Beatty’s sister, Shirley McClaine has also received the award.
The Cecil B. DeMille Award was first handed out to Walt Disney in 1953.
The Golden Globes will announce nominees on December 14 and the show will be broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 15
