Reese Witherspoon will be making her first public appearance at the Kennedy Center Honors to present Dolly Parton with the award at the 29th annual ceremony on December 2 in Washington D.C. The presentations will be made at a State Department dinner hosted by Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.
December 3rd the Honorees will be in attendance, along with the President of the United States and Mrs. Bush, at the Honors Gala. The gala brings performers from around the world who offer tributes to the honorees.
The Honors Gala will be broadcast on CBS on a later date.
Witherspoon has long held an admiration for her fellow Tennessean. Reese has said, “Ever since I was six-years-old when people would say, ‘Who are you going to be when you grow up?’ I’d say, ‘Dolly Parton.’”
The other four individuals receiving the award for their contributions to the arts are: musical theater composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, conductor Zubin Mehta, singer, songwriter and producer Smokey Robinson, and film director and producer Steven Spielberg.
