LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal to Host Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in 2009-10 NBA Season Opener on October 27

The NBA released its 2009-10 schedule and opening night will begin with LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers hosting Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics on October 27. That game will be aired on TNT at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be followed by Kobe Bryant and the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers hosting the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:30 p.m. ET. Prior to the start of the game the Lakers will be presented with their NBA championship rings.

While the Cavs-Celtics and Lakers-Clippers are the marquee matchups of the evening the NBA has two more games on the slate that will feature teams ready to make a charge for the crown. At 8:30 p.m. ET the Dallas Mavericks with Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd and Shawn Marion will play host to the Washington Wizards and the Portland Trail Blazers will be hosting the Houston Rockets at 10:00 p.m. ET.

Opening night will roll over into Wednesday, October 28 with a ten-game schedule that includes the New Orleans Hornets traveling to face the San Antonio Spurs, the Denver Nuggets hosting the Utah Jazz and the Orlando Magic hosting the Philadelphia 76ers. Cleveland, Boston, Houston and the Los Angeles Clippers will also see action on Wednesday as part of an early back-to-back stretch.
