The Florida Commission on Ethics has decided to drop the sexual harassment case filed against Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin White, citing he is already facing three years in prison for accepting bribes.
The sexual harassment case was filed by a former aide in May of 2011. The complaint against White alleges that he repeatedly harassed an aide and fired her because she refused his advances, an action that sexual harassment attorneys refer to as retaliation. White was also accused of a voting conflict.
The Commission determined the woman’s allegation had merit, but decided not to launch an ethics probe because of the cost to taxpayers and cited that White was already facing criminal charges for bribery.
White was found guilty of accepting a bribe from an undercover FBI agent to influence the Hillsborough Public Transportation Commission which he chaired.
