Texting Florida driver kills man in early morning traffic accident

A Florida man was killed this morning in a traffic accident after a distracted driver slammed into his vehicle.

Florida Highway Patrol said that the driver of a box truck, Walter Woodard, was traveling southbound on U.S. 27, using his cell phone to send a text message when he veered of the road and ran into a sign. Woodard than overcorrected, crossed the grassy median into the northbound lanes and struck the passenger side of a pickup truck.

The pickup driver, Bobby Morgan, 70, then lost control, careening onto the shoulder. The truck rolled over coming to rest on the roof. Emergency crews had to extricate the driver from his vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

The box truck driver told police that he was texting at the time of the accident. This demonstrates how dangerous distracted drivers can be on our roads. An accident attorney can make certain the deceased man’s family recovers any costs they incur and attain additional compensation for their emotional suffering.

Auto accidents are very common and while some people are able to walk away from their accident with little to no injury, many others have personal injuries which can be detrimental. Some accident victims face a long road to recovery along with very expensive medical bills. But when they have a skilled accident attorney on their side they will be able to get the money they deserve for their pain.

Florida accident lawyers have fought for many personal injury victims and have recovered millions of dollars in damages for those people harmed by negligent drivers.
