Andy Roddick Eliminated from Masters Cup by David Nalbandian

Defending Masters Cup champion David Nalbandian sent Andy Roddick packing for home after knocking the American out of the season ending tournament in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6 (4).

It was Roddick’s second serve that that proved to be his downfall as Nalbandian routinely pounded winners on the offerings.

The first set saw Roddick lose serve twice, enough for the Argentinean, Nalbandian to easily take the first frame. Roddick had his chances in the second set and actually held a 3-1 advantage in the tiebreaker but Nalbandian was able to overcome the deficit 

Nalbandian advanced to the semis after Roger Federer handled Ivan Ljubicic in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-4. Federer’s moved him into the semis as well and kept him in line to capture his fourth Masters Cup title.

Federer and Nalbandian advance from the Red Group while the Gold Group semis will be James Blake and the winner of the Nikolay Davydenko v. Rafael Nadal match.
