Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Begins 11-Day Tour of Africa

United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has arrived in Kenya and will spend the next eleven days stopping in Angola, Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Nigeria and South Africa as part of a trip intended to assure African countries they remain a key component of U.S. foreign policy.

 

While in Kenya Clinton will meet with Somali leaders, a move President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed welcomed, saying “It signals how the American government, the Obama administration and the international community are willing to support Somalia this time.”

 

As part of her trip Clinton is expected to address several key issues effecting the African continent including food security and health concerns.
