Season eight of The Bachelorette with Emily Maynard kicked off last night with the customary cocktail party in which the 25 bachelors got the opportunity to make a good first impression. For the first time ever, the cocktail party did not take place at the usual Bachelor/Bachelorette mansion in Los Angeles. This season was filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina to accommodate Maynard and her 6-year-old daughter, Ricki.
Some of the early front runners appear to be Arie, a racecar driver who Emily says is attractive; Jef, the CEO of a bottled water company who arrives on a skateboard; Doug, a single dad who scored the first impression rose; and Ryan, a pro sports trainer who impresses Emily with a sweet note.
Emily sent David, Lerone, Brent, Jackson, Jean-Paul, and Randy packing at the first rose ceremony. Doug, Chris, Ryan, Kalon, Arie, Charlie, Jef, Nate, Sean, Joe, Kyle, Aaron, Alejandro, John, Alessandro, Michael, Stevie, and Travis all received roses.
