Second victim of Indiana DUI traffic accident dies in hospital

A woman, who was hit by a suspected drunk driver in Fort Wayne My 8th, died of her injuries on Sunday.

According to police, Corina Hurtado, 50, was driving a pickup around 9 a.m., traveling eastbound on Taylor Street when she hit an unoccupied vehicle on Broadway. Hurtado was attempting to flee the scene when she ran into a passenger van carrying Harold and Starr Beboult.

Harold Beboult died on the scene of blunt force trauma caused by a traffic accident, according the Allen County Coroner’s office. His wife, Starr, survived the crash and was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries Sunday.

Hurtado was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A blood test revealed that her alcohol content was .17, almost twice the legal limit. She also had cocaine in her system. Police charged her with six felony counts of operating while intoxicated, two misdemeanor charges of OWI endangerment, and misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is gross negligence on the part of the driver. When they cause a fatal or injurious accident, an Indiana accident attorney will hold these reckless drivers accountable for their actions by seeking financial compensation.

Personal injury victims will be saddled with costly medical care, while their daily bills add up and they lose wages as they recover. These worries can impede their recovery, but they can alleviate their stress by allowing an accident lawyer to begin working on their case so they will receive maximum compensation.

Though a financial settlement obtained by an accident attorney is little consolation to for those who have lost a love one, it can help ease the burden of funeral costs and medical bills, giving them a sense of justice.
