Week 11 NFL Scores
J.P. Losman hit Peerless Price with 15 seconds remaining to lift the Buffalo Bills (4-6) past the Houston Texans (3-7) 24-21. Losman threw for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Buffalo win. Losman connected with Lee Evans 11 times for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns. David Carr passed for 223 yards on the day but the Texans turned the ball over twice in the loss.
The Carolina Panthers’ (6-4)) defense held St. Louis (4-6) to just 111 total yards and shut out the Rams 15-0. The Panthers recorded 7 sacks on the day and allowed only 31 yards on the ground in the shutout. DeAngelo Williams rushed for 114 yards, out-gaining the entire St. Louis offense. The Panthers had 411 total yards of offense with Jake Delhomme passing for 191 yards and a touchdown.
Jamal Lewis rushed for 91 yards and 3 touchdowns and the Baltimore Ravens (8-2) wore down the injury plagued Atlanta Falcons (5-5) for a 24-10 win. Steve McNair threw for 236 yards and the Ravens defense sacked Michael Vick five times on the day. B.J. Sams had a huge game returning kicks, totaling 212 yards on special teams play. The loss was the Falcons third in a row and drops them into third place in the NFC South
Donovan McNabb was lost for the season after suffering a torn knee ligament in the second quarter and the Philadelphia Eagles (5-5) could never recover, losing to the Tennessee Titans (3-7) 31-13. Travis Henry rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown for the Titans. Philadelphia held a big advantage in the passing game but turned the ball over three times in the loss.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-7) ended their three game losing streak after beating the Washington Redskins (3-7) 20-17. Carnell Williams rushed for 122 yards for the Bucs and Brad Gradkowski threw for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Redskins could only manage 64 yards on the ground and the Bucs had the ball for nearly 14 minutes longer than the Redskins.
The Chicago Bears (9-1) are off to their best start since 1990 after beating the New York Jets (5-5) 10-0. Rex Grossman threw for 111 yards and a touchdown while Thomas Jones grinded it out on the ground for 121 yards in the win. Chad Pennington was picked off twice in the Jets loss. The low scoring contest featured 15 punts between the Bears and the Jets.
Chad Johnson caught six passes for 190 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Cincinnati Bengals (5-5) beat the New Orleans Saints (6-4) 31-16. Carson Palmer threw for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns, all to Johnson. Rudi Johnson rushed for 111 yards for the Bengals. Drew Breese had another monster game for the Saints passing for 510 yards and 2 touchdowns but he was picked off 3 times on the day.
The Miami Dolphins’ (4-6) defense was their best offense on Sunday returning two turnovers for touchdowns and beating the Minnesota Vikings (4-6) 24-20. The Dolphins were held to -3 yards rushing on the day but Joey Harrington threw for 254 yards and a touchdown. The Dolphins returned two turnovers in the fourth quarter for touchdowns to earn the win.
Larry Johnson rushed for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Kansas City Chiefs (6-4) overcame a 13-7 deficit and beat the Oakland Raiders (2-8) 17-13. Johnson’s 1-yard surge with under two minutes reaming gave the Chiefs the lead and proved to be the game winner. The Chiefs defense shutout the Raiders in the second half to secure the win for Kansas City. Aaron Brooks threw for 179 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders loss.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (4-6) survived a last second scare to beat the Cleveland Browns (3-7) 24-20. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns including a four-yard shovel pass to Willie Parker with 32 seconds remaining to win the game. Roethlisberger struggled for most of the game but his 224 fourth quarter passing yards made up for his 3 interceptions. Charlie Frye passed for 224 yards for the Browns but it was his last pass in the endzone that was just missed by Braylon Edwards that ended the game.
The New England Patriots (7-3) snapped their two game losing streak and shutout the Green Bay Packers (4-6) 35-0. While Tom Brady passed for 244 yards and 4 touchdowns the Patriots defense held the Packers to just five first downs on the day and a meager 120 total yards. Brett Favre was knocked out of the game with an elbow injury near the end of the first half. The Packers could only convert 1-13 third down plays on the day.
Matt Leinart had his best game of his career passing for 233 yards and a touchdown and the Arizona Cardinals (2-8) beat the Detroit Lions (2-8) 17-10. Leinart also added a 9 yard rushing touchdown to his day. Edgerrin James rushed for 96 yards and Anquan Boldin had 5 receptions for 87 yards in the win. Jon Kitna passed for 248 yards in the loss.
Frank Gore rushed for 212 yards and Alex Smith passed for 163 yards and a touchdown as the San Francisco 49ers (5-5) shocked the Seattle Seahawks (6-4) 20-14. The 49ers scored all their points in the first half and then held on in the second half to beat Seattle. Seneca Wallace threw for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns but was picked off three times. The Seahawks could only manage 70 yards on the ground compared to the 236 yards put up by the 49ers.
The Dallas Cowboys (6-4) managed to hand the Indianapolis Colts (9-1) their first loss of the year 21-14. Tony Romo threw for 226 yards while Julius Jones rushed for 79 yards. Marion Barber was used to hammer home two short yardage touchdowns for the Cowboys. Peyton Manning threw for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns but he was also picked off twice, one of which was returned for a touchdown by Kevin Burnett. The Colts turned the ball over four times on the day.
