Melloy Dodge, Albuquerque, New Mexico’s trusted and respected Dodge Ram vehicle dealership, auto finance team, and certified service department, announced the release of the exclusive Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered 2013 RAM 2500 HD truck. This model will be available exclusively to businesses as a fleet truck. In the future, Dodge may plan to release the CNG model to the general consumer, especially with the rise in popularity of hybrids and other alternative fuel vehicles due to environmental awareness and the rise of gas prices.
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has recently become increasingly popular with automotive companies as an alternative fuel source to gasoline, boasting high mileage on a relatively cheap form of fuel. CNG is a fossil fuel alternative to gasoline, diesel, propane. The cost of CNG per gallon is 30% cheaper than other gas.
Dodge will be offering very limited options for the 2013 CNG RAM 2500 HD Truck. It boasts a 360-mile range on an 18-gallon tank 'set' for CNG and an 8-gallon gasoline tank with one fill valve for each. Both fill valves are in the same single fill up area.
The interior of the 2013 CNG RAM 2500 HD truck offers two fuel gauges, one for gas and the other for CNG. The engine is the standard 5.7 liter hemi with only a few alterations that are necessary for the CNG usage. These changes relate to certain reinforced areas for handling the CNG and an extra set of injectors.
The truck is only to be offered in a very limited state with few to no options for customization. However, there may be opportunities for further customization in the future. The RAM 2500 is available as a 4x4 and with a long bed crew cab as well as SL and SLT trim options.
