Twitter Taken Offline Following Denial-of-Service Attack

Popular micro-blogging site Twitter has been taken offline following a cyber attack described as a “denial-of-service.”

According to Twitter’s official company blog the site was “the target of a denial of service attack.” The blog, written by Biz Stone, went on to say “Attacks such as this are malicious efforts orchestrated to disrupt and make unavailable services such as online banks, credit card payment gateways, and in this case, Twitter for intended customers or users.’

Twitter was taken offline Thursday morning and while service was reportedly restored the site was “continuing to defend against and recover from this attack.”
