The Tennessee Titans have announced they will place a No. 9 decal on the backs of their helmets for the upcoming NFL season to honor their late quarterback Steve McNair. Tennessee had the 1 1/4-inch decal approved by the NFL.
McNair, who shared the NFL’s MVP award in 2003 with Peyton Manning, was killed on July 4 in a murder-suicide.
During his 11-years with the Titans’ franchise McNair threw for 27,141 yards and 156 touchdowns while leading the team to its only Super Bowl appearance in 2000.
