Two Washington Post journalists have apologized for a recent joke targeting Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that appeared in their online video series “Mouthpiece Theater” which is housed on the paper’s Web site.
The video, which followed the recent “Beer Summit” hosted by President Barack Obama, featured columnist Dana Milbank and White House correspondent and blogger Chris Cillizza joking about what type of beer politicians might drink.
While discussing the topic Milbank commented he couldn’t reveal to whom President Obama would offer “Mad Bitch” beer. Just after uttering that line an image of Clinton appeared.
After the video appeared on the Washington Post Web site the paper was flooded with angry comments about the content and Post Executive Editor Marcus Brauchli quickly cancelled “Mouthpiece Theater.”
Milbank offered an apology for the episode saying, “I regret that we put up that image, and while I highly doubt the secretary of state has seen 'Mouthpiece Theater,' I would be honored to have the opportunity to apologize to her over a beer.”
