Top 25: Coaches’ Poll NCAA Men’s Basketball
The Coaches’ Poll was shaken up a bit this week after #3 Kansas suffered a 78-71 defeat to Oral Roberts and #8 Georgetown was knocked off by Old Dominion 75-62 on Sunday.
After cruising through another week with a 41-point average margin of victory, the University of Florida held on to its #1 ranking in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll. Now at 4-0 on the season Florida has a pair of games this week before facing Kansas on Saturday. Florida picked up 30 of the 31 first place votes.
North Carolina remained #2 in the Coaches’ Poll after picking up three wins over the past week. The Tar Heels face their first true test on Wednesday when they take on #23 Gonzaga.
Ohio State took over the #3 spot after Kansas fell. The Buckeyes defeated Eastern Kentucky 74-45 on Friday and have San Francisco today followed by Youngstown State on Friday.
After capturing four wins over the past week Pittsburgh laid claim to the #4 spot in the Coaches’ Poll. Among their wins was a Big East victory over Massachusetts 85-68. Pittsburgh will battle with Florida State on Friday.
UCLA got their season under way with an 82-69 victory over BYU on Wednesday. The Coaches’ Poll rewarded them with a #5 ranking. The Bruins will be taking on Chaminade at the Maui Invitational today.
