Bachelorette Recap: Emily Maynard Sends Two Guys Home Before Rose Ceremony

Bachelorette Emily Maynard broke away from her preference for simple dates this week with two somewhat extravagant one-on-one dates for Chris and Arie. The guys on the group date had it a little harder as they were grilled by her friends and then tested on their ability to play with children.

To get to their rooftop dinner, Emily and Chris must climb up the side of a building in downtown Charlotte. Over dinner Emily once again tells Chris how good looking he is and admits she would be too intimidated to make the first move if she saw him in a bar. Things go smoothly until Chris admits he is 25-years-old. Emily feels he may be too young to step into a father role, but Chris is quick to reassure her of his maturity. He scores the date rose and the pair finish the night with a Luke Bryan concert.

Charlie, Alejandro, Alessandro, Stevie, Ryan, Sean, John, Michael, Doug, Jef, Travis and Tony went on the group date. Emily takes them to a local park where they are grilled by her friends. After the guys answer all her friends’ tough questions, Emily brings out a group of kids to see how the guys interact with them at the park. Her friends like Sean and Doug the best. Ryan also seems to be a favorite until he admits that he wouldn’t “love on” Emily as much if she gained weight in the future. The park date leaves Tony feeling bad about being away from his 5-year-old son. Emily sends him home to be with his son. Sean scores the date rose.

Arie receives the second one-on-one date. They hop in a small plane and head to Dollywood in Tennessee. After enjoying the roller coasters and attractions, Emily is surprised with a mini Dolly Parton concert. Arie and Emily dance as Parton sings a song she wrote especially for the pair. Later at dinner, Arie talks about how he is definitely ready to be a father and start a family. Emily is very impressed and gives him the date rose.

The cocktail party was a little more eventful that usual. Kalon makes a big blunder by telling Emily to stop talking to he can continue talking. Emily is clearly mad, but she does not call him out on his rudeness. Travis then allows Emily to smash the ostrich eggs he has been carrying around since night one. The highlight of the party comes with Alessandro’s confession that he sees being a father to Emily’s daughter Ricki as a “compromise” instead of a “bonus.” Emily sends him packing before the rose ceremony.

Stevie is the only one eliminated at the rose ceremony.
