Bieber Fever turned violent Wednesday as dozens of teenage girls were injured in a stampede outside the Opera House in Oslo, Norway where Justin Bieber was set to perform a free concert for his upcoming NBC special, “Justin Bieber: All Around the World.” The injuries occurred when thousands of fans rushed towards a vehicle they thought carried Bieber, 18. Oslo news outlets reports around 88 girls were injured. At least 14 girls were removed from the scene for medical treatment.
Bieber tried to calm the crowd with a Tweet after local authorities threatened to cancel the show. "Norway - please listen to the police. I dont want anyone getting hurt," he wrote. "I want everything to go to plan but your safety must come first."
"Here are the details at 9:20 tonight I'm going to do a free show for you the fans at the Opera House here in Oslo," Bieber added. "The show is part of my Around The World TV special and I will be doing 6 songs, 4 new, 2 old before I leave. But for the show to happen you must all listen to the police. We are all concerned for your safety and I want what is best for you. Please listen."
The show began 30 minutes early. The audience numbered around 6,000.
