LowVig Foresees Lower Attendance in Las Vegas Poker Rooms During World Series of Poker

One year after Black Friday, serious poker players likely to head back to playing online between live events

Casinos around Las Vegas expecting to see an influx of poker players during the World Series of Poker might be surprised to see their numbers down over the next few weeks according to a recent report by LowVig. The rakeback poker site expects more and more players to opt for the online poker tables during breaks from the Rio poker room floor. The move back to online is in sharp contrast to what happened during the 2011 WSOP, when players flooded poker rooms up and down Las Vegas Boulevard.

“Last year, poker players were still digesting the fallout from Black Friday, staying away from the few online poker sites that remained open to US players,” stated a LowVig spokesperson. “Poker rooms on the strip really profited from a record number of players pushing rake into the pockets of casinos in cash games. Last year, poker players didn’t have the option to play online at Full Tilt, Poker Stars, or UB. But one year later, poker players have seen the US market change dramatically and have become more comfortable with online poker offerings that operate transparently and within the law.”

LowVig expects to be a major recipient of the move back to online during the World Series of Poker thanks to its player-friendly rakeback model.

Players who generate $400.01 or more per day in rake will receive 25% back. Those generating between $0 and $20 will earn 5% rakeback. The more money a player generates between $20 and $400.01 each day, the higher their rakeback percentage will be.
Explained the LowVig spokesperson, “Poker players at the WSOP tend to be serious grinders, but by playing in live poker rooms, they’re handing over money that could otherwise be theirs. For example, a player who generates $400.01 in rake at a land-base casino won’t see a dime of it. Everything goes to the poker room. But the same player who generates $400.01 in rakeback per day at LowVig will see $100 returned to their account.”

With five weeks between now and the Main Event of the World Series of Poker, someone who generates $400.01 in rake per day will see $3,500 returned to them over the course of 35 days at LowVig. And that doesn’t take into account any actual winnings they accumulate.
