Bachelorette Recap: Emily Maynard Heads To Bermuda

Emily Maynard and her guys left Charlotte, North Carolina and headed to Bermuda on this week’s Bachelorette episode. Location was not the only change in store for the bachelors – two unlucky guys went on the first two-on-one date of the season.

Single dad Doug scores the only one-on-one date of the week. Emily takes him shopping and helps him send his son a postcard. Over dinner Emily tries to determine if Doug is as perfect as he seems. She tries to get him to reveal some of his flaws, but he keeps giving “perfect answers” and Emily gets nowhere with her line of questioning. Doug gets the date rose.

Back at the resort, the group date card arrives for Charlie, Ryan, Chris, Jef, Sean, Arie, Travis and Kalon. That means Alejandro, John, Michael and Nate are left for the two-on-one date.

For the group date, the guys get a crash course in sailing before Emily informs them that they will be split into two teams to race the sailboats. The winning team will get a cocktail party with her while the losing team will return to the resort.

The red team - Charlie, Travis, Sean and Chris – takes an early lead, but the yellow team -- Arie, Jef, Ryan, and Kalon – pulls through for the win at the last minute. The cocktail party starts with Ryan making a toast to “trophy possible-wife” Emily. Emily is not impressed. She enjoys good one-on-one time with Arie and Jef before Ryan digs himself deeper. He reiterates his desire for an always slim wife before giving a speech about how Emily has the opportunity to impact “tons and ton” of women. His speech eventually moves towards the fact that he did not like to see Emily kissing Arie before the rose ceremony. He implies that it was not a good example for Bachelorette fans. Emily gives a half-hearted apology. She decides to give the date rose to Jef.

The dreaded two-on-one date goes to Nate and John. They enjoy a day on the water before Emily decides who to send packing. During their one-on-one time with Emily, Nate and John each express their desire to stay and get to know her better. Emily decides to keep John and send Nate packing.

At the pre-rose ceremony cocktail party, things get heated between Chris and Doug. Chris, who is 25, is not happy about a comment Doug made earlier about guys in their twenties not being ready for the responsibilities of being a husband and father.  He confronts Doug, but Doug brushes off his concerns and says he is being immature.

Emily sends Michael and Charlie home at the rose ceremony.
