Registration is open for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago’s inaugural Friends of the Poor 5K Run/Walk.
The race is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 9 a.m. on a USATF certified course at Cannon Drive and Fullerton Avenue in Chicago. The event is limited to a maximum of 500 entrants, and registration for the event will close once the limit has been reached. The cost to run is $25 for students and $30 for adults. The cost for walkers is $25. Race day registration will be available from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and the cost is $35 for everyone.
Packet Pick-Up will be held at DePaul University Student Center, 2250 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago, on Sept. 19, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sept. 20, 3 to 8 p.m. Packets will be available during race day registration, but participants are encouraged to pick up their packets at DePaul University.

"Running or walking in the Friends of the Poor 5K is a great way for people to give back to their community.”
