World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: WWE) reported Thursday that its second-quarter profit more than doubled, helped by strong results from WrestleMania XXV.

Earnings grew to $19.9 million, or 27 cents per share, for the period ended June 30. That's up sharply from $7 million, or 10 cents per share, a year earlier.
Analysts expected net income of 18 cents per share, according to a Thomson Reuters poll. Analysts' estimates normally exclude one-time items.
The sports, media and entertainment company said WrestleMania XXV, which took place in the second quarter compared with the first quarter a year ago, contributed about $32.2 million to revenue and 13 cents to earnings per share results.
Revenue increased 7 percent to $138.8 million from $129.7 million on the strong performance of televised and live entertainment. The results missed Wall Street's estimate of $140.6 million.
Shares of World Wrestling Entertainment picked up 26 cents to $13.67 in morning trading.
