Billy Ray Cyrus could not be happier daughter Miley Cyrus has found “true love” with new fiancé Liam Hemsworth. Shortly after Miley, 19, announced her engagement on Wednesday, Cyrus took to Twitter to express his support.
“All I ever hoped for as a Daddy was to see my kids reach their dreams. To find happiness...peace of mind ...and someday know... true love,” he wrote.
RadarOnline.com reports Hemsworth asked for Cyrus’ permission to propose before he popped the question on May 31 with a 3.5 carat diamond ring by Neil Lane. An insider tells Radar Cyrus “hopes the engagement will be very long, but he isn't opposed to the marriage at all.”
Another source tells People magazine the entire Cyrus family loves Hemsworth. "Billy Ray loves Liam. He's happy his daughter has found the right guy. The whole family loves Liam,” the source says.
Cyrus and Hemsworth began dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of The Last Song. They split briefly the following year, but rekindled their romance in 2011.
Hemsworth is currently filming Empire State with Emma Roberts. He will begin filming the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire later this year. Cyrus is currently working on her fourth album.
