Google Makes SEO More Challenging, Raising the Bar for Marketing Professionals

The internet’s leading search engine Google recently rolled out the Panda algorithm which was intended on reducing spam which requires webmasters and internet marketing companies to provide better quality content on their websites.

Google’s Matt Cutts spoke to Search Engine Land at a SMX conference in Seattle to discuss the changes made to their search algorithm. He discussed the changes and admitted that they had raised the bar for legal internet marketing firms.

“I believe if you ask any SEO, is SEO harder than it was 5 or 6 years ago, I think they’d say it was more challenging.”

Cutts also said that Google would continue to make changes that would reduce spam.

The Panda algorithm forced marketing firms to provide quality content that enhances an internet user’s experience. The changes also cut down on spam.  Cutts also said that the search engine would be stricter about paid links, which is generally used in the short term to increase a page’s rankings while they built a content-heavy site. Often times these links would take a user to low-quality content.

The Panda update rolled out in April and affected a small percentage of websites. Legal internet marketing professionals have since adjusted and improved their SEO methods in order to keep their clients pages prominent in search, following the guidelines set out by Google.

Businesses that wish to increase their relevancy in search can turn to a marketing company that is knowledgeable about Google algorithms and are able to provide exceptional content.
