Billionaire Beer Heir Admits to Hit-and Run, Now Facing Lawsuit

One of Colombia’s richest men, heir to a brewery fortune, is now facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit filed by his traffic accident victim.

Andres Santo Domingo appeared in court late March, where he pleaded guilty to running over a New York City pedestrian and then fleeing the scene. The accident took place on the corner of East 34th Street and Third Avenue as 26 year-old college student Ryan Coutu was attempting to cross the street when Domingo ran into him with his black Mercedes and then took off.

The two men meet eyes, but Domingo ran over Coutu’s foot before leaving him injured in the street.

Domingo was ordered to surrender his driver’s license for 90 days and serve six days of community service.

Coutu had extensive nerve damage in his right elbow, and herniated disks. He needs surgery to repair the damage in his elbow. Because of his exorbitant medical bills, Coutu hired an accident attorney who is seeking $100 million in damages.

Domingo seems perplexed by the lawsuit, stating that he thought his car insurance was handling the settlement. People often hire a New York accident lawyer to negotiate with insurance companies so they can get a favorable settlement for their clients. Money to cover medical expenses simply isn’t enough, since people injured in traffic accidents become temporarily disabled and lose a significant amount of income.

New York accident attorney understands the pain and suffering a personal injury victims has to endure and their goal is to make sure they get the maximum amount of compensation they are entitled to.
