In a post on her official website on Thursday, Danica McKellar thanked fans for supporting her in her split from husband Mike Verta. McKellar filed for divorce Monday after 3 years of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
"I am just overwhelmed by the love and support in the messages I've been receiving from all of you via Twitter and Facebook during this incredibly tough time," she wrote. “The end of a marriage has got to be one of the saddest events one can experience. I've heard that the pain [of divorce] is second only to an actual death in the family, and that sounds about right.”
McKellar, 37, and Verta wed in March 2009 after 8 years of dating and welcomed son Draco in September 2010. McKellar is perhaps best known for her role as Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years. Her recent work includes guest appearances on TV shows like The West Wing and How I Met Your Mother. McKellar has also published three math books.
