Christian Drug And Alcohol Treatment Offers Hope To The Broken

Christian addiction treatment meets people where they are

Addiction destroys lives. Addiction destroys families. Addiction destroys careers. People who struggle with an addiction to drugs or alcohol often feel like they are broken, unworthy of anyone's love, and this can be devastating. There is hope, however, with Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs. These drug and alcohol rehab programs understand the disease of addiction and reinforce the idea that addicts are deserving of forgiveness and love, not only from the people who love them, but from God.

Addicts find themseves in a difficult position when they finally decide to seek help.  They often have destroyed many of the relationships that would normally be there to offer support.  Because of the things they have done to harm those relationships, there may be no one left to turn to for help. The Bible says, in Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Christian addiction treatment is in the unique position of be able to reach the broken who no longer have anywhere to turn.  Faith based treatment centers understand the shame and guilt that accompany addiction.  By offering epmathy and the hope of complete recovery, treatment centers meet people where they are with the message of forgiveness.

Christian drug and alcohol treatment has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years because people with addiction are hurting deeply. While there are those who are critical of Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs, many more are extolling the virtues of these drug and alcohol rehab programs because of its faith-based approach to addiction treatment. Although addiction is a disease, it affects people not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well.  The best possible starting place for recovery is one of brokeness and repentance. Once this is achieved, the underlying pain can be addressed in order for addicts to achieve a lasting recovery.

Through daily, intensive study of the Bible, prayer and fellowship with other addicts, Christian drug and alcohol treatment centers strive to have addicts grow in their faith and in their relationship with God. Many addicts who choose to enter a Christian drug and alcohol treatment program have never been exposed to a faith community, and often find it a shock to the system. These drug and alcohol rehab programs accept everyone right where they are, just as God accepts everyone right where they are. People are a work in progress, and for people struggling with addiction, treatment and recovery, that is a very real truth.
