Tommy Chong Battling Prostate Cancer

Actor and comedian Tommy Chong is battling prostate cancer. In an interview about his support of legalizing marijuana, Chong revealed he was diagnosed about four weeks ago with "a slow stage one (cancer that I've) had for a long time."

"I've got prostate cancer, and I'm treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis. So [legalizing marijuana] means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested,” Chong, 74, told CNN’s Don Lemon on Saturday.

Chong said he takes hemp oil at night “so I wound be woozy all day.” He also said he has not smoked marijuana in nearly a year “for health reasons.”

Chong is perhaps best known for being part of the comedy duo Cheech and Chong with friend Cheech Marin. The pot-loving duo released several comedy record albums before starring in the popular Cheech and Chong films in the 70s and 80s. The pair split in the 80s, but reunited in 2008 for a comedy tour. Their next show is scheduled for June 15.
