Trace Cyrus, the older brother of singer and actress Miley Cyrus, has announced he is no longer engaged to girlfriend Brenda Song. The Ashland High musician did not give a reason for the split.
"Brenda and I have decided to go our separate ways. We split up a couple of months ago. We will continue to focus on our careers,” Cyrus, 23, said in a statement. "I wish Brenda the best and much success in the future. I hope everyone can respect our privacy about this situation. Thanks so much."
Song, 24, has not commented. The pair announced their engagement last October after less than a year of dating.
News of the broken engagement comes just days after Miley announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. Hemsworth popped the question on May 31 with a 3.5 carat diamond ring by Neil Lane.
Cyrus and Hemsworth began dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of The Last Song. They split briefly the following year, but rekindled their romance in 2011.
