Commerce Secretary Takes Medical Leave Following Hit-and-Run Traffic Accident in Los Angeles

Authorities say that Commerce Secretary John Bryson suffered from seizures when he was involved in two traffic accidents over the weekend. Bryson announced today that he would be taking a medical leave of absence.

The accidents took place Saturday around 5:05 p.m. According to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department, Bryson rear-ended a Buick as it was stopped at a railroad crossing. The Secretary got out of his vehicle and spoke to the three men in the car. He then left the scene, hitting the same car while leaving. The men followed him and called 911.

Secretary Bryson then drove to the Rosemead area where he ran into another vehicle, occupied by two people. When police arrived they found Bryson slumped behind the wheel unconscious.

Bryson was later charged with felony hit-and-run, but medical professionals say that his accidents were caused by a seizure.

The five occupants of the two vehicles all complained of pain resulting from the accident, but were not taken to a hospital.

Before details of Bryson’s accident emerged, Karl Rove and other conservatives lit up Twitter, accusing him of driving drunk.

While the people involved in Secretary Bryson’s accident were lucky to have avoided serious injury, they may wish to retain an accident attorney to recover the money it will take to repair their vehicles.

Most traffic accident victims don’t walk away from the scene with no injuries. Many people are killed or severely injured in auto accidents on a daily basis. When they or their families think they deserve compensation, they can hire an accident lawyer to work on their case and assure a favorable outcome.

Traffic accident attorneys will make certain that the personal injury victims they represent get the maximum amount of compensation they need to cover their medical expenses and their suffering.
