The NorthWest Crossing Hullabaloo, a popular Bend, Oregon street festival being held this year on June 29, is kicking off summer in style with headline musical act, Storm Large. Large, who is based in Portland, appeared on the television show Rock Star: Supernova in the mid-2000s and America fell in love with her irreverent attitude and soulful, powerful voice. She’s worked in an appearance at the Hullabaloo, as most of her summer will be spent touring with Pink Martini.
Large, who recently published a book of her memoirs called Crazy Enough, released a CD of the same name a couple of years ago. Her 20-plus year musical career has been marked by her vocal range and power, her commanding stage presence and her raw, gutsy attitude.
Her act, which begins at 8:30 p.m., will be preceded by Anastacia (4 p.m.), a singer songwriter who moves through musical genres such as Americana, folk rock, bluegrass with a hint of eastern spice; Bend’s own upbeat, loud and rollicking Five Pint Mary (5:30 p.m.) Celtic folk-rock band; and 3 Leg Torso’s (7 p.m.) charming, elegant and daring modern chamber pop music style that embraces wit and humor within thoughtful, uncommon and beautiful musical arrangements. The Hullabaloo mainstage line-up is presented by The Garner Group and Carrera Audi, with musician hosting by the NorthWest Crossing Builders’ Guild.

The uproarious street festival, which is in its fifth year, regularly features bike races (including a kid’s crit), live music, street performers and family activities. The next day, June 30th, is the kick- off of the popular NorthWest Crossing Farmers Market, which will run every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through September 22nd.
