Giants’ Diehl Apologizes for Weekend DUI Arrest

NFL players may make smart moves on the field, but when it comes to drinking and driving they can make some pretty stupid decisions. Since Memorial Day, there have been four pro-football players arrested for DUI, including the Giants’ David Diehl.

Diehl was arrested Sunday evening for drunk driving after he crashed his BMW into several parked cars in Astoria Queens. The police report said the Diehl spent the afternoon drinking with friends until 8 p.m when he proceeded to leave the bar.

Once police arrested him Diehl told them he had only had one or two drinks, but a breathalyzer test showed that his blood alcohol content was at least twice the legal limit. With a strong DUI defense, a DUI attorney in New York can challenge the results of his sobriety test and appeal to the courts for a reduction in his charges.

On Tuesday, Diehl appeared at a press conference to offer apologies for his arrest and promised it would never happen again. He said, “I’m going to make sure I learn from this, it’s a mistake I guarantee will never, ever happen again. I’m going to make sure I help people never make the decision I made.”

Aside from dealing with a criminal charge and the costs of hiring a highly effective DUI lawyer, Diehl will have to pay a fine to the NFL, who has a strict policy regarding substance abuse and personal conduct, which an intoxicated driving charge violates.

Drunk driving is all too common which jeopardizes the personal safety of the offender and other people on the roads. People do make mistakes and a New York DUI attorney will apply their expertise to making certain you don’t have to pay too dearly for the bad decision you made.
