As her marriage to David Arquette draws to an end, Courteney Cox is seeking to drop his last name. Both Cox and Arquette filed for divorce Friday, June 8 in Los Angeles Superior Court. They both cited irreconcilable differences and requested to share custody of their 8-year-old daughter Coco. Cox also requested that “Arquette” be legally removed from her name.
Cox, 47, and Arquette, 40, have remained on good terms throughout their 20-month separation. "He's my favorite person in the world," Cox told People in January. "He's my best friend. No matter what happens in our future, he's my very best friend."
“We truly love each other with all our hearts,” Arquette said shortly after their split in October 2010. “Whether it's as friends or as husband and wife, I know that I'll be with her my whole life.”
