Adam Morrison, Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Carmelo Anthony, and Yao Ming lead their teams to wins in NBA games from Wednesday night.
Adam Morrison tied his career high with 26 points and Emeka Okafor added 11 points and 13 rebounds as the Charlotte Bobcats (3-8) got past the Boston Celtics (4-7) 92-83. It was the third time this year Morrison has totaled 26 points this year. Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 28 points and 14 rebounds. The Bobcats shot 42 percent from beyond the three-point line.
Orlando (8-4) got 22 points from Jameer Nelson and 16 points and 14 rebounds from Dwight Howard as the Magic beat the Indiana Pacers (6-6) 96-91. Grant Hill added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the Magic. Jermaine O’Neal led the Pacers attack with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
The Toronto Raptors (3-8) held Cleveland (8-4) to just 12 points in the fourth quarter and went on to beat the Cavaliers 95-87. Chris Bosh led the Raptors with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists. LeBron James fell two assists shy of a triple-double for the Cavs, finishing with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Anderson Varejao had a double-double for Cleveland, totaling 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Chauncey Billups had 24 points and 10 assists and Rasheed Wallace grabbed 13 boards to go with his 14 points as the Detroit Pistons (7-5) handed the Atlanta Hawks (4-5) their fourth straight loss 103-98. The Hawks were led by Joe Johnson who finished with 25 points, Shelden Williams had a strong game ending up with 20 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
The San Antonio Spurs (10-2) built a 19 point lead by halftime and went on to crush the visiting Miami Heat (4-7) 106-86. Tim Duncan had 19 points and 6 rebounds while playing only 22 minutes in the blow-out. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili each had 17 points for the Spurs. Dwyane Wade finished with 18 points in the Heat loss
Michael Redd had 32 points and Andrew Bogut dropped 14 points while grabbing 9 rebounds and the Milwaukee Bucks (4-8) won at home, beating the Philadelphia 76ers (4-7) 98-94. Andre Iguodala led the 76ers with a triple-double on the night, going for 18 points, 10 assists and 16 rebounds. Allen Iverson sat out his second game after having a tooth removed.
The New York Knicks (4-9) could only manage 13 first quarter points and were never able to catch up to the Minnesota Timberwolves (4-6), falling 107-89. Ricky Davis led the Wolves with 22 points while Kevin Garnett totaled 19 points and 9 rebounds. Jamal Crawford led the Knicks with 19 points.
Yao Ming continued to play strong finishing with 25 points and 14 rebounds as the Houston Rockets (8-4) handed the Washington Wizards (4-7) another road loss 86-82. Tracy McGrady added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets. Houston out-rebounded the Wizards 57-44 on the night. Gilbert Arenas led the Wizards with 26 points.
Steve Nash had 24 points and 7 assists and both Raja Bell and Boris Diaw had 18 points as the Phoenix Suns (5-6) snapped the NO/Oklahoma City Hornets (8-4) four game winning streak 89-81. Desmond Mason finished with 21 points for the Hornets and Tyson Chandler pulled down 16 rebounds.
The Portland Trail Blazers (6-7) overcame a 13 point halftime deficit to beat the New Jersey Nets (5-6) 100-97. Zach Randolph finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds for Portland and LaMarcus Aldridge totaled 10 points and 8 boards. Vince Carter had a big night from the floor, going for 35 points in the Nets loss.
The Utah Jazz (11-1) put 39 points on the board in the fourth quarter and went on to beat the Sacramento Kings (5-5) 110-101. Both teams had six players finishing with double figures in points. Carlos Boozer had 32 points and 13 rebounds while Deron Williams had 20 points, 13 assists, and 7 rebounds for the Jazz. Kevin Martin had 24 points and 8 rebounds for the Kings.
The Seattle Supersonics (6-7) got 35 points and 12 rebounds from Rashard Lewis and another 23 points from Ray Allen to beat the LA Clippers (6-4) 95-85. Luke Ridnour had 12 points to go with is 9 assists as the Sonics handed the Clippers their second loss in two nights. Chris Kaman led the Clippers with 12 points and 14 rebounds while Elton Brand finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Carmelo Anthony had 33 points and 9 rebounds and Marcus Camby played big on the glass with 16 rebounds to go alongside his 14 points as the Denver Nuggets (6-4) beat the Golden State Warriors (7-5) 115-112. The Nuggets controlled the boards all night, out-rebounding the Warriors 54-34. Jason Richardson led Golden State with 24 points and 8 rebounds.
