Moesha Star Yevette Wilson Dies Of Cancer At 48

Yvette Wilson, a comedian and actress best known for her role as Andell Wilkerson on TV’s “Moesha” and “The Parkers,” has died. Wilson, 48, lost her battle with cervical cancer and kidney disease on Thursday, her close friend Jeffrey Pittle confirmed in a statement to E! News.

"Unfortunately I can verify Yvette's passing yesterday. She was a good friend, a talented actress and a very funny lady, both onscreen and off," Pittle said. "She will be sorely missed, but I'm sure her talent and humor will live on in her legion of fans. It's a small comfort knowing we can still experience Yvette through the work she left behind."

Wilson’s friend and fellow Moesha star Shar Jackson mourned her death on Twitter. "F--k cancer... Oh god. My heart is so unbelievably broken,” Jackson wrote.

"I want to thank all my tweeties for their prayers but god has chosen to take my sister Yvette home,” she added.

Wilson was a regular on Russell Simmon's stand-up comedy show “Def Comedy Jam” in the early to mid 90s. She then starred on “Moesha” from 1996 to 2001 and its spinoff “The Parkers” from 1999 to 2004. Wilson’s film credits include “House Party 2,” “House Party 3” and “Friday.”
