Napolitano released a memorandum today that effective immediately certain young
people may receive deferred action, and can apply for work
authorization Immigration Lawyer can finally help millions of undocumented young
immigrants.
Each applicant must apply and their case will be reviewed on an individual basis, and the immigration officer will decide whether to exercise discretion. To qualify for this program the young person must have:
Arrived in the United States prior to his or her 16th
birthday.
Have continuously lived in the United States for 5 years prior to
June 15th, 2012 and physically present in the United States on June 15th,
2012.
Either in school, graduated from high school, received a GED
certificate, or have been honorably discharged from the Coast Guard or Armed
Forces.
Never have been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor,
multiple misdemeanors, or pose a threat to public safety or national
security.
Currently less than 30 years old.
Anyone
applying for this program must document that they satisfy all of these
conditions. Anyone currently in deportation proceedings should contact an Immigration Attorney immediately to ascertain their eligibility for this program.
More
information will be forthcoming as ICE and USCIS implement the processes over
the next 60 days.
While this
program does not grant Permanent Resident, millions will at least be encouraged to come out of the
shadows, and be able to work lawfully.
