Oregon Woman Killed in Head-on Crash near Astoria

A 53 year-old woman was killed Thursday when her car collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

The accident took place Thursday around 9 a.m. on U.S. 30 near Astoria. According to police, Carol Howard was traveling eastbound when she crossed the center line and hit a tractor-trialer, carrying a wood chipper, head on.

Howard was ejected from her vehicle and died on the scene. She was not wearing a safety belt.

The truck driver randy Davies, 44, was also injured and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Davies attempted to avoid the collision.

Police said that Howard made no attempt to brake. A family member reported her missing at 7 p.m. and assisted police with next-of-kin notifications.

A small amount of diesel fuel leaked from the truck, the accident tied up U.S. 30 for a few hours.

Tragic accidents, unfortunately, are a fact of life. There are many instances where people walk away from an accident without injury, but too often they end in injury or death. Traffic accidents are typically caused by another driver’s distraction or inattention. An Oregon accident attorney will make it their priority to seek justice for personal injury victims.

Any auto accident victim that wishes to seek compensation should speak with an accident attorney as soon as they are able so they can begin working on building an effective case.

Because of their experience, an Oregon accident attorney is capable of winning a large financial settlement so their clients don’t pay a dime of their accident-related costs out of their own pockets.
