New York authorities confirm Dr. Timothy Jorden was found dead Friday. It appears the trauma surgeon, who was wanted in the murder of an ex-girlfriend, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was found in a wooded area near his Lakeview home.
State police and federal authorities launched a manhunt for Jorden Wednesday morning after his ex-girlfriend, 33-year-old hospital receptionist Jackie Wisniewski, was shot to death at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. The decorated Army veteran was considered a “person of interest.” Police said it appeared Jorden, 49, carefully planned his escape before the shooting.
“This is an unspeakable tragedy for everyone involved. At this time, all ECMC officials and staff are taking direction from police authorities who are in charge of this investigation,” said Erie County Medical Center CEO Jody Lomeo.
Jorden earned his medical degree from the University of Buffalo. He spent 18 years in the military, working as a weapons expert with the Special Forces and then as a medic.
