NFL Week 12, Thanksgiving Day: Dolphins Defense Feasts on Lions 27-10.

The Miami Dolphins (5-6) held the Detroit Lions (2-9) to just 21 yards on the ground and allowed 220 yards of total offense as they went on to win 27-10.

It looked like the Lions might enjoy their annual Turkey Day game, jumping to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter but the Dolphins defense stepped it up and Joey Harrington began to light up his former team.

The Lions got on the board early with a Jon Kitna 2-yard touchdown pass to Dan Campbell on their opening possession. Jason Hanson then added a 52-yard field goal and the Lions built a 10-0 lead.

From there on out it was all about the Miami defense and the arm of Joey Harrington.

With just under three minutes remaining in the first Harrington hit Marty Booker on an 8-yard touchdown pass to cut the Dolphins deficit to three. Harrington then threw his second touchdown of the game at the two minute warning, connecting with Randy McMichael on a 5-yard pass.

The Dolphins started the third quarter with a 42-yard field goal from Olindo Mare to put Miami up by seven. Harrington then connected with Marty Booker for a 19-yard touchdown pass. It was Harrington’s third of the game and second to Booker, who finished with 115 yards receiving to go with his two touchdowns.

Mare added a 28-yard field goal early in the fourth to cap the scoring for the Dolphins.

It was a sweet day for Harrington who began his career with the Lions. He finished with 213 yards passing and 3 touchdowns while the Detroit fans booed him throughout the contest.

After starting the season 1-6, Miami has won four straight and have begun to resemble the team that many picked to make the playoffs this year.

As for the Miami defense, they sacked Jon Kitna eight times and intercepted him once.
