Most of the job cuts will take effect around Sept. 30., according to the company’s filing. Eleven additional cuts will be made in February 2010, the filing said.
Travis Jacobsen, a spokesman for Dallas-based Celanese, said the layoffs are the result of the company closing its polyester material production unit at the facility and moving the operations of its compounding unit to Kentucky. Jacobsen said a separate unit with approximately 50 employees will remain active.
