Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to Send Country’s Ambassador Back to Colombia

Less than two weeks after Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez pulled the country’s ambassador to Colombia in reaction to a diplomatic argument the controversial leader has opted to resend the diplomat in an effort to repair the damaged relationship.

Chavez recalled Ambassador Gustavo Marquez after the Colombian government announced they had found Venezuelan purchased weapons in the hands of Colombian FARC guerillas. According to Colombia the weapons had been purchased by Venezuela in the 1980s and those arms had made their way to the rebels.

That allegation was met with disdain by Chavez who immediately denied the charge and said Venezuela had acted “irresponsibly” in the accusation.

With some time to consider his options Chavez has now elected to send Marquez back to Colombia and told the ambassador, “Go to work, and you have a lot of it.”
