Forty-five years ago in the single ‘When I'm 64’ Paul McCartney imagined he would be “doing the garden, digging the weeds” in his old age, but as he turns 70 today the Beatles musician is far from letting age slow him down. Not only has McCartney continued performing regularly – he recently performed at Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee concert and is set to perform at the opening of the Summer Olympics in London – he is also recording a new album. The album is expected to be released in early 2013.
The past year also made McCartney a newlywed again. In October, the singer wed longtime girlfriend Nancy Shevell at Old Marylebone Town Hall, the same place he married first wife Linda Eastman in 1969. This is McCartney’s third marriage. He filed for divorce from model Heather Mills in July 2006 after four years of marriage. McCartney began dating Shevell late the following year and proposed in May 2011.
