North Carolina Man Killed by Underage Drunk Driver

An underage drunk driver took the life of a Charlotte man and injured his wife and daughter.

Charlotte police said that Steven Bennie Driggers, 20, was speeding and driving drunk on Reedy Creek Road around 1 a.m. Saturday when he crossed over the center live and struck a sedan, carrying three people head-on. Driggers car then went into a ditch

The passengers in the sedan were a local family. Reinaldo Rodriguez, who was driving, died on the way to the hospital. His wife, and 16 year-old daughter was also taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Driggers was charged with felony death by a motor vehicle, DWI and drunk driving under the age of 21.

Driggers was also injured but is expected to recover.
