A Florida man threatened to eat off the face of nurse “like the guy in Miami” while she was trying to help him after his arrest for DUI.
The threat was leveled by 21 year-old Giovanni Martinez after he was transferred from a county jail to the hospital when he became unresponsive. After arriving at the hospital he bit the arm of a nurse who was offering him aid and threatened to eat off her face. He also kicked a police officer in the head and threatened to rape officer’s wives.
Martinez was stopped by police on Saturday for speeding and running a red light. After they pulled him over they discovered he was drunk with spilt beer all over the front seat. Martinez tried to say that the beer was his sister’s, but he admitted to having a “few drinks.” He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to a county jail.
Once in his cell Martinez passed out and was unresponsive so police took him to the hospital. As he was being transferred from the ambulance bed to a hospital bed he began his violent tirade and spit blood on the nurse.
Most people feel angry after they are arrested for DUI, but instead of lashing out at others, they can fight their arrest by hiring a DUI attorney. A physical threat just compounds charges and affects any chances of building an effective DUI defense.
Once police pull you over for suspicion of DUI, your cooperation can be used by a DUI lawyer to help minimize the resulting indictments.
A drunk driving offense is taken very seriously, but you have the opportunity to negate the resulting charges when you hire an effective DUI attorney to defend you in court.
