On this week’s episode of The Bachelorette, Emily Maynard and her guys leave London and head to Croatia. Once the guys settle into their hotel, Emily personally delivers the first one-on-one date card to Travis.
Travis is excited for one-on-one time with Emily and hopes to “bust out of the friend zone.” Emily and Travis explore the city of Dubrovnik before getting dressed up for dinner. After Travis talks about his broken engagement and not dating for the past 2 years Emily sends him packing. She explains that they have a great friendship, but they lack the romance she is looking for.
The group date goes to Jef, Arie, Sean, Chris, Doug and John. Emily takes them to a local theater where they see an early screening of Disney’s new animated film ‘Brave.’ In keeping with the Scottish theme of the movie, the guys later dress up in kilts and compete in Highland games. The games involve archery, a caber toss and tug-of-war. Chris fails at all three events, but Emily awards him a silver “Bravery mug” for his enthusiasm. She also gives him the date rose.
The final one-on-one goes to the ever confident Ryan. Emily takes him driving, picnicking and oyster fishing. Ryan is charming as always, but raises red flags when he calls Emily a trophy wife. Emily fluctuates between feeling good about Ryan to feeling unsure. Over dinner, Emily is turned off Ryan’s list of 12 things he wants in a wife. She tells him she can’t give him the rose because she feels as if she constantly needs to be perfect around him. Ryan doesn’t go down without a fight. He tries to convince Emily to reconsider her decision after she admits she is unsure about sending him packing. In the end, Emily stands firm and Ryan goes home.
At the rose ceremony, Emily has doubts about her relationships with John and Doug. She decides to hand out an extra rose so both can stay. Emily hopes more time will help her establish solid feelings about both guys.
