The #23 Nebraska Cornhuskers got 142 yards on the ground from Brandon Jackson and Zac Taylor tied a score record with his 43 career touchdown pass to cruise past Colorado 37-14.
Taylor entered the Nebraska record book on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Jackson early in the fourth quarter. The senior quarterback equaled the career total posted by Tommy Frazier. Taylor’s 249 yards passing gives him 2,789 for the season, that is a record he holds to himself.
Colorado was trying to avoid losing their tenth game of the season, a dubious honor achieved only twice before in the school’s 117 year history. The Buffalos appeared as if they would give the Cornhuskers all they could handle early in the game. The two teams traded touchdowns all the way through the opening possession of the third quarter.
With the game tied 14-14 Brandon Jackson reached the end zone on a two-yard burst to put the Cornhuskers ahead for good. Nebraska went on to put another 16 points on the board in the fourth quarter to seal the victory and complete a 5-0 record in the Big 12 North.
The Nebraska offense accounted for 468 total yards, 190 of which came on the ground.
Nebraska now prepares for a Big 12 Championship game that will pit them against either Oklahoma or Texas. An Oklahoma win on Saturday will earn them a bid, a loss puts the Longhorns in the December 2 showdown.
