After 14 years together, Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have called it quits. Depp announced their split Tuesday and requested privacy for their children, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9.
"Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children,” Depp’s rep said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight.
Depp, 49, and Paradis, 39, began dating in 1998. In 2010 interview, Depp explained why they had not married. "I never found myself needing that piece of paper," he said. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, okay you're married."
Paradis previously told Elle magazine she already felt married to Depp. "I love the romance of 'let's get married,' but then, when you have it so perfect ... I mean, I'm more married than anybody can be – we have two kids. Maybe one day, but it's something I can really do without," Paradis said.
Depp and Paradis denied break-up rumors earlier this year.
