Taliban Militants Attack Government Buildings Near Afghanistan Capital of Kabul

Taliban militants, continuing to target government buildings in Afghanistan ahead of the country’s scheduled presidential and provincial elections later this month, fired rockets and engaged in gun battles near the capital city of Kabul on Monday.

According to reports the militants targeted government offices as well as the police headquarters in Pul-i-Alam, the capital of Logar province. At least five people were said to be killed in the attacks launched by six insurgents.

The Taliban has called on Afghans to boycott the upcoming elections and they have vowed to do all they can to disrupt the process including blocking polling stations and attacking government buildings.
