The New Orleans Saints have signed first-round draft pick Malcolm Jenkins to a five-year deal after both sides agreed to undisclosed terms on Sunday night.
Jenkins, who has missed the first ten days of training camp, is now expected to report, something the cornerback appeared to be ready for as he expressed in his Twitter account, “Finally we can get this ball rolling.”
Jenkins was among the nation’s best corners while at Ohio State and earned first-team All-America honors as well as well as the Jim Thorpe Award as a senior. He is expected to initially be a backup for the Saints but could challenge Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter for playing time.
New Orleans will open their preseason schedule with a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday at the Superdome.
