A Manchester, New Hampshire man is facing DUI charges after crashing his mini-bus loaded with students into another bus yesterday.
According to the police report, Erik Paulik, 37, was tailgating a bus, also loaded with special needs students, before he rear-ended it when the driver stopped for a red light. Paulik’s front mirror crashed through the rear window of the other bus, covering the students in glass.
There were four students on the first bus and four students on Paulik’s bus. Luckily, none of the students were injured.
Police say that his blood alcohol level was .27 percent, three times the legal limit. Authorities also said Paulik was speeding, reaching up to 90 miles per hour, on his way from New Hampshire to the school.
A representative for the Lighthouse School, which caters to special needs students, said they had thoroughly checked Paulik’s background prior to hiring him.
If a person drives for a living, they can ruin future job prospects once they have been charged with DUI. This is why it’s critical for them to challenge the charge by hiring an accomplished DUI attorney.
Since DUI attorneys have extensive experience in this area, they have a number of DUI defense strategies which will make it possible to have the charges reduced or dismissed altogether.
The penalties which result from an intoxicated driving charge can be severe, often leading to a jail sentence and at the very least a suspension of their driver’s license. Your DUI lawyer will work very hard to make certain you aren’t given a harsh sentence.
