Boston Celtics Sign Shelden Williams to Contract

The Boston Celtics have signed former Duke Blue Devils standout Shelden Williams to a contract on Friday said to be for one year and worth $1.3 million.

Williams, 6-foot-9, 250-pounds, was originally drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the number five pick of the 2006 draft but he has never truly lived up to the expectations placed on him.

Williams appeared in 81 games for the Hawks in 2006-07 and averaged 5.5 points and 5.4 rebounds in 18.7 minutes. He was traded midway through the 2007-08 season to the Sacramento Kings and in 08-09 he was sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
